Is it really free?

Yes. No purchase, no trial, no licence key, no account, no paid tier. There is no payment code in the app at all.

Do I need an account?

No. There is nothing to sign in to.

Does it record anything about me?

No analytics, no telemetry, no usage tracking. Nothing about how you use Cue Canvas leaves your Mac.

When automatic update checks are switched on, the app asks our update feed whether a newer version exists. That request tells us nothing beyond what any download does.

How do I get updates?

Cue Canvas checks for them by itself and tells you when one is ready. You can also ask any time from the menu bar icon → Check for Updates…. Turn the automatic check off in Settings → General if you would rather not.

Every update is signed, and your copy verifies that signature before it installs anything. An update that does not come from us is refused.

Does it record my screen?

No. Cue Canvas asks for Screen Recording permission because macOS requires it for the magnifier and the screenshot features. Those read the screen to show you a zoomed copy of it or to save a picture you asked for. Nothing is recorded, stored or sent anywhere.

Screenshots you take go where you tell them to and nowhere else.

Which macOS versions?

macOS 14 (Sonoma) and later, on both Apple silicon and Intel.

Is there a Windows version?

Not yet. A Windows version is planned as a separate native app rather than a port, so it will feel like a Windows application rather than a Mac one wearing a costume. It has not started.

Will my drawings show up in a recording?

If the recorder captures the whole screen, yes. If it captures a single window, no. See Using Cue Canvas on a call.

Can I save what I draw?

You can take a screenshot with the drawings included, and capture a region of the screen. Both are in Capture and share. There is no save-and-reopen document format.

Does it work with a drawing tablet?

Yes. Pressure sensitivity is not implemented yet. See Drawing tablets and iPad.

Who makes it?

Microdigm. See the About window, or microdigm.com.
